Dosage-form manufacturing

Cream, ointment and gel contract manufacturing in India

Plan topical cream, ointment or gel manufacturing with Walter Healthcare, including formula, processing, tube, pack size and quality requirements.

Manufacturing fit

Define the product before confirming the production plan.

A topical product brief should define the intended dosage form as carefully as the active ingredient. Walter’s published semi-solid capabilities include controlled processing, homogenisation, tube filling, crimping and leak inspection. The product, site, manufacturing conditions and pack must still be reviewed together before a project is accepted.

Project decisions

What changes the manufacturing brief?

Dosage form and formula

Identify whether the product is a cream, ointment, gel or other presentation. Specify ingredient amounts and whether the percentage is w/w, w/v or another basis; do not silently substitute one.

Pack compatibility

State tube material, fill weight, nozzle, cap and any applicator needs. Ask the team to review the closure and contact materials for the actual formulation.

Product expectations

Provide the agreed specification or proposed targets for the formulation’s physical properties. Appearance, viscosity or application expectations should be technically defined where they are important.

Commercial scope

Distinguish a transferred formula from a new development project. State pack-size variants separately and confirm whether each requires different materials, artwork, testing or supporting evidence.

Review sequence

From product identity to release.

  1. Formula, dosage-form and intended-use review
  2. Mixing and homogenisation assessment
  3. Bulk-product and in-process checks
  4. Tube filling, closing and inspection
  5. Testing, packaging review and release

Your initial enquiry

Quality documents and the proposed site.

Request the applicable site and product permission review, then agree the quality documentation and access conditions for your project. Technical records may need an NDA and controlled access.

Buyer questions

Questions buyers ask before a manufacturing enquiry

Can the same formula be offered in several tube sizes?

List every size and quantity in the enquiry. Filling suitability, component availability, minimum quantities, artwork and supporting stability requirements are assessed for the proposed configurations.

Can I use a catalogue strength directly on artwork?

Confirm the exact approved composition, percentage basis and label requirements first. A catalogue record is a starting point for discussion; final product and artwork details require the responsible technical and regulatory review.

What determines the quotation?

The formula, processing route, batch size, tube and closure, printing, testing, development or transfer needs and release scope affect the quotation. Ask for the inclusions and assumptions in writing.
