Walter Healthcare is a multi-unit pharmaceutical and nutraceutical manufacturing company headquartered in Mohali, India—created to make outsourced manufacturing more accountable, transparent and commercially useful.

Our beginning

Manufacturing first.

Walter’s manufacturing journey began in May 2020. Walter Healthcare Private Limited was formally incorporated in April 2022, creating the organisational foundation for a growing multi-site manufacturing network.

Today, Walter works across pharmaceuticals, injectables, nutraceuticals and packaging—supporting third-party customers, D2C wellness brands, institutions and international buyers.

The name philosophy

Six letters.

Walter was conceived as an acrostic — a company name built from the surnames of scientific pioneers whose work changed how humanity understands, measures and protects health.

Across disciplines and generations, their work expanded scientific understanding. The initials of their surnames form WALTER.

Wilhelm Wundt

1832–1920

In 1879, Wundt founded the world’s first university institute of psychology in Leipzig. His use of controlled experiments helped establish psychology as a distinct scientific discipline.

A foundational pioneer of experimental psychology; he did not receive a Nobel Prize.

Werner Arber

Born 1929

Arber’s research revealed how bacteria recognise and cut foreign DNA. Restriction enzymes became essential tools for analysing genes and developing molecular genetics.

Shared the 1978 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine with Daniel Nathans and Hamilton O. Smith.

Feodor Lynen

1911–1979

Lynen clarified the chemical pathways that produce cholesterol and fatty acids, and how those pathways are regulated. His work deepened understanding of the body’s lipid metabolism.

Shared the 1964 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine with Konrad Bloch.

Tu Youyou

Born 1930

Drawing on studies of traditional herbal remedies, Tu discovered artemisinin, a compound active against the malaria parasite. Her research opened a new path in malaria treatment.

Received half of the 2015 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for her discoveries concerning a new therapy against malaria.

Willem Einthoven

1860–1927

Einthoven developed the string galvanometer in 1903, allowing precise recording of the heart’s electrical activity. His work helped make the electrocardiogram a practical tool for studying heart function.

Received the 1924 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his work on the mechanism of the electrocardiogram.

Venkatraman Ramakrishnan

Born 1952

Using X-ray crystallography, Ramakrishnan helped reveal the ribosome’s structure at the atomic level. This work advanced understanding of how cells make proteins and how certain antibiotics act on bacterial ribosomes.

Shared the 2009 Nobel Prize in Chemistry with Thomas A. Steitz and Ada E. Yonath.
