Dosage-form manufacturing

Capsule contract manufacturing in India

Prepare a hard-capsule manufacturing brief for Walter Healthcare covering fill, shell, release type, packaging and quality-review requirements.

Manufacturing fit

Define the product before confirming the production plan.

A capsule brief should identify both the contents and the shell. Walter’s published hard-capsule capability covers formulation-specific fills, in-process inspection and bottle or blister options. Gelatin and HPMC shell options are subjects for product review. Softgels have a different manufacturing route and should be identified separately in the enquiry.

Project decisions

What changes the manufacturing brief?

Fill and release design

Say whether the project uses powder, granules or another proposed fill and whether any component has a modified-release requirement. Pellet or multiparticulate suitability needs specific confirmation.

Shell and size

Identify gelatin or HPMC preference, colour, size and printing requirements if established. Ask the team to check fill volume and compatibility before artwork or purchase commitments.

Transfer readiness

For an existing product, describe the formula, fill specification, methods and process information available for transfer. Identify any proprietary material that requires an agreed confidential exchange.

Finished pack

Specify blister or bottle preference, count, closure and required protection. Packaging and shelf-life assumptions should be reviewed together for the actual formula.

Review sequence

From product identity to release.

  1. Composition, fill and shell assessment
  2. Material and blend-readiness review
  3. Filling and applicable in-process checks
  4. Inspection and primary packaging
  5. Finished-product testing and release review

Your initial enquiry

Request the applicable site and product permission review, then agree the quality documentation and access conditions for your project. Technical records may need an NDA and controlled access.

Buyer questions

Questions buyers ask before a manufacturing enquiry

Are hard capsules and softgels the same service?

No. Identify the format at the start. This page describes the hard-capsule enquiry route. For softgels, include the fill, shell requirements and target market so the team can confirm the appropriate manufacturing scope.

Can I request HPMC capsules?

Include HPMC as a requirement in the brief. Suitability, materials, formula compatibility, testing, claims and commercial availability are confirmed for that product; the preference alone is not a manufacturing commitment.

How do I compare capsule quotations?

Compare the same strength, fill type, shell, capsule count and pack. Check whether shell printing, packaging, analytical work, development or transfer costs and release testing are included.
